My name is Anita also known as “Fancy Cakery” and I am from Frankfurt, Germany.
Since I can remember I always had to be creative, so I started painting and sketching since I could hold a pen or a brush. But it was always just a hobby.
6 years ago, a friend of mine asked me to bake and decorate the cake for her sons 1st birthday. I started searching for cakes online and this was the beginning for my new passion. Whenever possible I was baking cakes and very soon I noticed that modelling satisfies my personal creative challenge.
To find my own way and my own style was very important to me which happened during a lot of “teach-yourself-practicing” sessions. I love to focus on expressions, gestures, and on tiny details.
And if this was not enough I started to participate on several national and international contests and my pieces of work won multiple awards.
- 2016 – Cake and Bake, Dortmund, Germany:
Silver for my decorative exhibit.
- 2016 – Cake International, Birmingham, UK:
Gold award and 2nd best in class with my decorative Christmas themed exhibit.
Silver award with my small decorative exhibit.
- 2017 – Tortenmesse, Hamburg, Germany:
Gold award and best in class for a Carnival themed cake.
Silver award for my decorative exhibit.
- 2017 – Cake and Bake, Dortmund, Germany:
Gold award and best in class with a 3D-themed cake.
Gold award for my decorative exhibition piece.
- 2017 – Cake International, Birmingham, UK:
Silver for a decorative exhibition piece
- 2018 – Tortenmesse, Hamburg, Germany:
Gold award, best in class, and best in show.
During the last two years I was able to participate in several collaborations and in the future I would love to continue participating into collaborations and contests. On the one hand as a participant (for international contests) and on the other hand as a judge (in Germany). Since 2017 I am also a member of the German IGT Cake Jury.
In my full-time job, I am an IT-expert, where I’m very limited in using the creative part in me.
To keep my life balanced, I started teaching my passion to others in my own studio in July 2017.
Well… I must say Cake-design is my passion and it allows me to transform my creative ideas into sugar sculptures.
